The 56th International October Conference on Mining and Metallurgy – IOC 2025, in cooperation with MDPI journals Metals, Minerals, and Mining, is organizing the “MDPI Young Researcher Award” competition.
The competition is open to young researchers under the age of 35, including Master’s and PhD students, as well as researchers who obtained their PhD in 2020 or later. To be eligible, candidates must present their work in an oral session at the IOC 2025 conference.
Application Procedure:
- Candidates must submit a full paper via the IOC registration system at https://ioc.tfbor.bg.ac.rs/ or contact us through the conference email: ioc@tfbor.bg.ac.rs.
- The candidate must be the first author of the paper. A mentor or professor may be listed as a co-author.
- The topic of the paper should align with the scope of the MDPI journals Metals, Minerals, or Mining:
A selection committee composed of internationally recognized experts will evaluate the applications. Candidates whose papers are shortlisted will be required to present their research in person during the oral sessions of IOC 2025.
Awards:
- 1st Prize – Full waiver of the article processing charge (APC) for publication in Metals, Minerals, or Mining
- 2 Second Prizes – Vouchers for 50% APC discount
- 4 Third Prizes – Vouchers for 20% APC discount
These awards aim to recognize and support the most promising early-career scientists in the fields of mining, metallurgy, materials science, and related disciplines.
The final deadline for applications is September 15, 2025.
Participants who have already submitted a paper for IOC 2025 and meet the eligibility criteria will be contacted directly by the Organizing Committee to confirm their willingness to participate in the competition. No additional submission is required.
