INVITED LECTURE: COMPUTATIONAL DESIGN OF ENGINEERING MATERIALS: CASE STUDIES FOR A CEMENTED CARBIDE AND A HEAT RESISTANT AL ALLOY
Yuhui Zhang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Material Science and Engineering at Xiamen University of Technology, where she has been actively engaged in research since 2022. She earned his Doctor of Engineering degree from Central South University in 2022, with a focus on Material Science and Engineering. During his academic journey, Yuhui also had the privilege of being a Joint-PhD student at Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon in Germany, specializing in Magnesium Technology in 2019-2020. Her research interests encompass various aspects of material science, including experimental investigations of phase equilibria and phase transformations, diffusivity studies using numerical methods, characterization of precipitates, and the application of machine learning techniques to establish the process-structure-property relationship. Yuhui has made significant contributions to the field, particularly in the area of multicomponent magnesium alloys, where he conducted experimental determinations of diffusivities, calculated interdiffusion coefficients, assessed atomic mobility, and employed XRD Rietveld and simulation methods for precipitate characterization. Notably, she also developed a machine learning model to establish crucial relationships in Mg-Al-Zn-Sn quaternary alloys, demonstrating his interdisciplinary approach to material science research.
